Ushakov also noted that Tasmagambetov will present a report at the upcoming summit, where "current issues of international and regional security" will be discussed, as well as the results of the CSTO's work during the intersessional period.
After the summit, a ceremony will be held to award Tasmagambetov with the CSTO first-class honorary badge, for which a corresponding decision has been made.
Taalatbek Masadykov, born in January 1961, received his education at MGIMO, where he studied international relations, and then continued his studies in graduate school at the Institute of Asian and African Studies at Moscow State University and at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds a PhD and is a professor, fluent in Kyrgyz, Russian, English, Pashto, and Dari.
In his career, Masadykov has worked in Afghanistan and served as the Deputy Director General of the State Committee for Foreign Investments of Kyrgyzstan.
From 2002 to 2014, he worked in various structures of the UN. In 2017, he ran for the presidency of Kyrgyzstan, and in 2021 he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 2022-2023, he held the position of Special Representative of the President. Starting in January 2024, Masadykov will also serve as Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO and holds the rank of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador.
