In the course of implementing the Program for the Development of Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater Systems in Kyrgyzstan, aimed at 2026 (initiated in 2020), it has been possible to attract approximately $594 million in investments from development partners. This information was announced by Azamat Junusov, director of the Central Asia Projects Foundation, during the presentation of the program project at the Water Supply and Sanitation Forum, which covers the period from 2026 to 2036.

According to Junusov, within the framework of the current program, 33 projects have been successfully implemented, covering 25 cities and 826 villages across the republic.

Despite existing challenges, Kyrgyzstan is demonstrating significant progress in providing the population with drinking water. According to information provided by the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan for 2023, 95.4% of citizens have access to sources of drinking water, and 48.2% of the population has stable access to sewage systems.

The program, which is active until 2026, shows mixed results: there are both significant achievements and certain shortcomings. The most active direction is the expansion of access to water supply and wastewater services, for which 31 activities are planned, more than half of which have already been completed or are in the implementation stage.
