At the business forum of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Bakyt Sydykov, emphasized that the creation of a logistics hub is one of the priority areas within the framework of the National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan until 2030, according to information from the ministry's press service.
The minister reported that in 2024, investments in the transport sector are planned to reach around $200 million. However, to achieve full development in this area, an additional $1.65 billion needs to be attracted, which creates significant opportunities for investors interested in large infrastructure projects.
Bakyt Sydykov also discussed the dynamics of cargo turnover in Kyrgyzstan's road transport sector, noting its steady growth. "According to the EAEU data, over the past four years, the volume of cargo transportation has increased by 82 percent — from 26 to 44 million tons. Our goal is to reach a total cargo volume of at least 110 million tons per year by 2030," he added.
The minister highlighted the importance of effective interaction among all modes of transport in the country's logistics system, including rail, air, and road transport.

"Rail transport consistently carries from 2 to 3 million tons, which indicates significant potential for improving interregional connections," noted Sydykov.

The airports "Manas" (Bishkek) and "Osh" are the main cargo air hubs of Kyrgyzstan, where the cargo transportation load has increased 12 times over the past four years.

Currently, significant projects in air transportation are under construction and preparation for opening, including a new international airport in the Jalal-Abad region, which will become the country's third air hub. The modernization of the international airports "Manas" and "Tamchy" is also ongoing.
The head of the Ministry of Economy noted that the diversification of logistics corridors and the development of multimodal transport will be the next steps in realizing Kyrgyzstan's geostrategic potential.
