The two-day business forum of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) has opened in Bishkek. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Minister Bakyt Sydykov noted that this event is the first business forum after nearly 15 years of absence.

He added that the event takes place in the year of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in CAREC and ahead of the upcoming 24th ministerial conference, which will be held on November 20.

"Today, the world is experiencing significant changes in global supply chains, the importance of multimodal routes is increasing, and Central Asia is gaining strategic significance as a bridge between the largest global markets. In such conditions, the CAREC member countries face new challenges, including infrastructure, technological, and environmental issues, as well as new opportunities for investment and the development of interregional trade. That is why the CAREC business forum is of great importance, creating a platform for interaction between business and government structures," said the minister.

Bakyt Sydykov also emphasized that Kyrgyzstan, as the chair of CAREC and an active participant, will continue to support initiatives aimed at improving connectivity, resilience, digitalization, and investment attractiveness of the region.

The business forum gathered key players from the private sector, government representatives, international financial organizations, and innovative companies from CAREC countries. More than 200 participants represent vital sectors of the economy, including logistics, digital trade, fintech, agri-tech, green energy, and sustainable tourism.
