In Kyrgyzstan, the opening of more than a hundred new manufacturing enterprises is expected by the end of the year. This was reported by Iskender Mamatov, head of the regional development policy department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in an interview on the radio.

He noted that in 2024, 102 industrial enterprises were launched, and as of August 31 of the current year, their number reached 67.

“We initiated a pilot project in several regions. Currently, we are conducting training for local administrations on the development and implementation of development programs. Master plans for two cities have also been approved, projected until 2030. Our main goal is to support cities, districts, and rural areas,” emphasizes Mamatov.

Additionally, he added that a comprehensive regional development program is being implemented in the country, which includes state standards, a subsidy system, and the creation of a “development budget.”

The methodology for implementing this program was developed with the support of the World Bank and is already actively applied in pilot regions.

Mamatov also pointed out changes in the population structure: while the share of the urban population was previously about 35%, it has now increased by 9%.

“The situation is changing, and cities are developing more dynamically, as it is there that manufacturing capacities are concentrated,” he added.
