Earlier, Reuters reported that the group, including fighter jets, is expected in the Middle East in the coming days. The increase in U.S. troops in the region is related to periods of heightened tension, and the deployment may be carried out for defensive purposes.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and F-15E Strike Eagle bombers are heading to the region. Additional air and missile defense systems, such as Patriot and THAAD, are also planned to be deployed.
As reported by The Jerusalem Post, the Abraham Lincoln is accompanied by the destroyers USS Spruance and USS Michael Murphy.
