Li Jiafu, the chief physician of the obstetrics department at Wuhan Zhongnan Hospital, who has been in medicine for nearly 40 years, stated that this is an unprecedented case in his practice.“All five babies scored above six on the Apgar scale, which is extremely rare for children born prematurely. Their vital signs are relatively stable; however, they will face a number of challenges, including difficulties with breathing, infections, and nutrient deficiencies. We will closely monitor their development,” noted senior pediatrician Yang Pu.
It is also reported that the mother was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, which complicates conception and increases the risk of miscarriage; however, after treatment, she was able to conceive naturally.
