According to information provided by the press service of the mayor's office, on November 24, a section of the road on Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue is planned to be opened, which will stretch from the Southern Highway to Akhunbaev Street.
The road marking work has already been completed, and only the installation of streetlights remains.
As for the underground passage, its completion by the specified date is, according to the workers, unlikely. The main stages of the installation of the passage have been completed; however, steps, lighting systems, and video surveillance need to be installed, as well as finishing works and the arrangement of stormwater drainage.
It should be noted that the underground passage is being built as part of a program to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce the number of road traffic accidents on busy highways. In this section of the avenue, the number of traffic lights is extremely limited, which creates difficulties for pedestrians.
According to media reports, President Sadyr Japarov issued decree No. 393, instructing the cabinet of ministers to identify contractors for the design and construction of new underground passages at the intersections of Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue with Abdrahmanov and Minzhilkiev Streets.
