According to the Swedish publication Aftonbladet, Jan Kling passed away at the age of 85. His son, Mattias Kling, confirmed this sad news.

Jan became known for his mastery of the saxophone and flute, which can be heard on albums such as Super Trouper (1980) and The Visitors (1981). He also performed the famous flute introduction to ABBA's song Fernando.

In addition to working with ABBA, Jan Kling collaborated with musicians such as Björn Skifs, Jerry Williams, Ted Gärdestad, and Monica Zetterlund.

“Music was his passion throughout his life. My father memorized all of Charlie Parker's solos in his youth. He had an incredible gift, but what I will remember most is his love for music,” said Mattias Kling about him.
