The conflict ended with a fight and the suspension of the theater director
At the Kyrgyz National Theater "Manas," the first republican competition "Zharatman manaschy" took place. The organizers of the event aimed to support talented performers of the epic "Manas," develop their creative abilities, and draw society's attention to the importance of live performance as a key element of cultural heritage.
To participate in the competition, strict conditions had to be met: to present an original author’s version of the epic consisting of at least 15,000 lines and to demonstrate a live performance lasting no less than ten hours. The prize fund amounted to seven million soms.
However, the celebration soon turned into a loud scandal. After the results of the competition were announced, discontent began to appear on social media, and it quickly became one of the most discussed topics.
On December 8, Nargiza Esenali kyzy, the wife of manaschy Asanaly Kalil uulu, published a post on Facebook claiming that her husband was beaten in the office of the director of the "Manas" theater. She reported that Asanaly had a broken nose. According to her, the conflict arose after Kalil uulu expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the competition. This message quickly spread on social media, causing a wide resonance.
Later, Asanaly Kalil uulu himself released a video address confirming his wife's words, stating that he had become a victim of physical violence. This video quickly gained popularity on Facebook and other social networks.
After the incident sparked a heated discussion, the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy took action. In an official statement, the ministry announced the creation of a special commission to objectively investigate all circumstances of the incident and the actions of the theater's management.
The next day, December 11, the Ministry of Culture announced the temporary suspension of Nurbek Talantbek uulu, the director of the Kyrgyz National Theater "Manas," from performing his duties until the investigation is completed.
A new video address from another manaschy, Rysbai Isakov, also appeared on social media. He stated that the conflict between him and Asanaly Kalil uulu allegedly has a personal nature. Isakov claimed that he had been trying to meet with Kalil uulu for several days to peacefully resolve the dispute but was unable to find him.
Society is awaiting the results of the official investigation.
