Despite the light snow, the square gathered a large number of people who came to witness this traditional celebration. Before the ceremony began, popular songs by Kyrgyz artists played for the guests and locals, creating a festive atmosphere.
Soon, representatives of the city administration arrived at the square. Among them were the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, vice-mayors Azamat Kadyrov and Victoria Mozgacheva, as well as the akims of the Pervomaisky and Sverdlovsky districts, Ulan Sarylbek uulu and Daniyar Amangeldiev. The head of the mayor's office, Ilyas Kolopov, was also spotted at the event.
A vibrant concert program was prepared for the audience, including dance performances and a fire show. After the performances concluded, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev and Vice-Speaker of the Bishkek City Council Zhyldyzbek Abdrayimov took to the stage. They congratulated those present on the upcoming New Year and wished them prosperity and good luck in 2026.
The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the tree. A symbolic red button was prepared for the mayor and the vice-speaker. The event hosts announced a countdown, which was supported by the citizens. After the button was pressed, the lights on the country's main tree brightly lit up, met with thunderous applause in the square.
