Preparations for the New Year have begun at Ala-Too Square in Bishkek. This was reported by the press service of the city administration.
Taking into account the opinions and wishes of the residents, it was decided to install the main Christmas tree on the northern side of the square. This will create a more comfortable space for relaxation, family photos, and festive events.
“In accordance with the requirements of the noise law and recommendations for energy conservation, a plan for decorating the central square has been developed. All decisions are made with an emphasis on energy saving, safety, and the comfort of citizens. The materials used for decorating the Christmas tree will include items purchased in previous years, including light garlands, ornaments, and architectural elements. Each year, these elements receive a new design and are reused. The energy consumption of the tree will be 53 kilowatt-hours,” the official statement said.
This year, a large ice rink with an area of 1,400 square meters is planned, as well as the decoration of walking and food zones.
Last year, partners invested about 28 million soms in the decoration of the square, and this year their contribution will increase as all props and decorative elements, including houses and decorative structures, will be completely updated.
Installation work has already begun: garlands are being checked, main structures and decorative elements are being installed. The decoration of Ala-Too Square will combine modern elements, a festive atmosphere, and national style. All work is scheduled to be completed by mid-December.
Walking and food zones, as well as mass events, will operate until 10:00 PM.
