Design of 78.5 km of new bike lanes completed, to be built in 2026

The city administration has announced the completion of the design for 78.5 km of bike paths, which will be constructed in 2026. Of this total, 15.17 km will be in Sukhbaatar, 3.6 km in Chingeltei, 28.23 km in Bayanzurkh, 18.74 km in Bayangol, 9.18 km in Khan-Uul, and 3.6 km in Songinokhairkhan.

Currently, Ulaanbaatar has 101.7 km of bike paths. As part of the "20-Minute City" concept, it is planned to increase their total length to 1677 km by 2040. All new bike paths will be separated from vehicle traffic and integrated into the city's green zones.


In 2025, the city's Investment Department will manage 14 projects aimed at developing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure with a total length of 54.2 km and an area of 205,414 square meters. Currently, 73,410 square meters have been completed, which is 41% of the total volume. Additionally, this year, the Capital Road Repair and Maintenance Authority is constructing bike paths and pedestrian sidewalks covering an area of 11,770 square meters.
