This season, the main Christmas tree will be installed on the northern side of the square, which will create more space for relaxation and celebration.
“Taking into account the noise legislation and energy-saving recommendations, a plan for the work and decoration of the central square has been developed, which considers aspects of energy conservation, safety, and convenience for the citizens,” the statement noted.
The installation and decoration of the New Year tree will be provided by city services. Materials purchased in previous years, such as light garlands, decorative elements, and ornaments, will be used for the decoration. Each year, these materials receive new design solutions and are reused.
The city hall reported that the main garlands have not been replaced in the last three years. This year, new energy-saving garlands with power regulators will be purchased for the tree, which will reduce energy consumption to 53 kWh.
Additionally, an ice rink with an area of 1,400 square meters will be installed in the square, which is significantly larger than last year when its area was about 400 square meters. To maintain the operation of the rink in conditions of elevated external temperatures, electricity consumption is planned to be up to 30 kWh.
Decoration of the walking and food zone will soon begin according to the approved project. This year, the number of trading booths has been reduced from 36 to 14, and the maximum load on each booth has been halved compared to last year, which will help optimize the load on the city’s electrical networks. The required power for these facilities will be about 2 kW.
“Last year, partners invested about 28 million soms in the decoration of the square. This year, the volume of their contributions will increase, as the decorative elements, booths, and structures will be completely updated,” the Bishkek city hall added.
Installation work has already begun: garlands are being checked, and main structures and decorative elements are being installed.
It is expected that all installation work will be completed by mid-December.
The operation of the walking and food zone, as well as mass events, will conclude no later than 10:00 PM.
