To save the budget, existing toys and decorations are being used.
“We try to update the decorations, taking into account their wear and tear. Every year, the design of the main tree changes, but we mainly choose classic options,” the official said.
Last year, the tree was decorated in the colors of the national flag; this year, it will be in the colors of Bishkek's symbolism, considering its new location. The color scheme of the decorations will also harmonize with the pedestal of the Manas monument, near which it is installed.
From December 15 to January 15, in addition to the tree, a recreation area with food courts and the houses of Aiyaz Atı and Santa Claus will operate in the central square. A large ice rink is also on the way.
“This winter, Ala-Too Square will become a cultural center for youth, children, residents, and guests of the capital, so the ice rink will operate until February,” added Victoria Mozgacheva.
She also noted that no budget funds were spent on decorating the square and the tree. All expenses, including utilities, are covered by entrepreneurs.
The Vice Mayor emphasized that city hall employees, along with the Main Internal Affairs Directorate, will monitor the situation in the city center. Therefore, on the day of the lighting, December 15, and on New Year's Eve, roads will be closed, and on other days, regulation will depend on the number of visitors in the square.

Victoria Mozgacheva also answered the common question from Bishkek residents about the change of location for the tree this year. “We moved the tree to the Manas monument to free up more space for the ice rink,” she explained.
