In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, preparations for the New Year celebrations have begun with the decoration of Ala-Too Square. This year, the main Christmas tree will be installed on the northern side of the square, which will create more space for walks, photo zones, and festive events. The city administration reports that all decisions are made with an emphasis on energy conservation, safety, and compliance with noise legislation.
Currently, municipal services are actively engaged in installation: garlands are being checked, various structures and decorative elements are being set up. Mainly materials from previous years are being used — toys, lighting elements, figures, and small architectural forms, which receive new design updates each year.
It is worth noting that the main garlands have not been updated for three years. This season, new energy-saving lighting elements with power regulators, as well as new toys, will be purchased for the Christmas tree. It is expected that the energy consumption of the fully decorated tree will be 53 kWh.
Traditionally, businesses participate in the decoration of the square, which helps avoid overloading the city budget. This year, partners will increase their contributions as the props, elements of the walking area, houses, and decorative structures are being updated. One of the most noticeable innovations will be the expansion of the ice rink — its area will increase from 400 to 1400 square meters.
Soon, the decoration of the walking and food zones will begin. The number of houses will be reduced from 36 to 14 to create more free space and reduce the load on the power grid; the energy consumption of each house will be halved. About 2 kW will be required to operate this area.
Preparations are being carried out under labor conditions: hot meals are provided for workers. The completion of installation work is planned for mid-December.
The operation of the walking and food zones, as well as the holding of mass events, will conclude by 10:00 PM.
