A new bronze statue of Bridget Jones has been installed in Leicester Square to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the first film. This was reported by the BBC.
The sculpture, weighing around 200 kilograms, was created by the London studio 3D Eye and depicts Bridget in a short dress with a diary and pen — symbols of the early films written by Helen Fielding.
The statue is part of a walking tour that also features figures of characters such as Harry Potter, Mr. Bean, Batman, Indiana Jones, Mary Poppins, Paddington, Charlie Chaplin, and the Iron Throne from "Game of Thrones".
The opening ceremony took place on November 17, attended by actors and filmmakers who played significant roles in this franchise. Bridget Jones first appeared in the pages of a book in 1996, and her debut film was released in 2001, followed by sequels in 2004, 2016, and a planned release in 2025.
