At Ala-Too Square, the approach of the New Year holidays is palpable. Journalists from 24.kg visited this iconic location and saw how actively preparations are underway for the main celebration venue.
In the center of the square, a metal framework for the country's main Christmas tree has already been erected. Workers are busy reinforcing it, installing lighting elements, and preparing for decoration with garlands and ornaments, which will begin in the coming days.
This year, the tree is located in the northern part of the square, which will free up more space for festive events and celebrations. Additionally, the area around the tree has been expanded to ensure comfort during the festivities.
For decorating the square, new energy-saving garlands and familiar ornaments for the townspeople are planned to be used, which, according to the organizers, will create a cozy atmosphere and reduce energy consumption.
Near the tree, workers are marking out the area for an ice rink, which will be the largest in the country, covering 1,400 square meters.
Lanterns are being installed in the future recreation area, and structures for the food court are being prepared. The number of stalls will be reduced, which, according to the organizers, will make the space more spacious and convenient.
Work is in full swing: the sound of tools can be heard, welding machines are sparkling, and the air is filled with the scent of fresh wood and metal. Workers are smiling and say that every year they eagerly await this period: “We are setting up the tree for everyone.”
It is expected that all work will be completed by mid-December, and Ala-Too Square will be transformed into the main New Year venue of the republic.
