This year, the main Christmas tree of the country will be lit on December 15 in Ala-Too Square, as reported by the press service of the Bishkek city administration. The height of the tree is 32 meters, and with the star, it reaches 35 meters. The tree will be decorated with 2,000 balls in blue and silver colors.
Additionally, the square is expected to host the opening of the largest ice rink in Kyrgyzstan, covering an area of 1,500 square meters, which will be flooded around the fountains. A traditional New Year fair called "Northern Lights" will also take place in the city center.
It is noteworthy that the decoration of the square is being carried out for the second consecutive year without using the city's budget funds: all expenses are covered by business structures, including payment for utility services. Last year, companies invested about 26 million soms, and this year the investment amount will increase due to the expansion of the ice rink and the upgrade of equipment for festive events.
