From December 24 to 26, the "Gazprom – for Children" physical culture and health complex in the capital of Kyrgyzstan will host the XXXVII International Weightlifting Tournament, dedicated to the 45th anniversary of Kanybek Osmonaliyev's victory at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
The main goals of this event are to strengthen friendship among athletes from different countries, promote weightlifting in Kyrgyzstan, enhance the international image of the country in the sports sphere, and engage youth in sports activities.
The competitions will take place in various categories for men: 60 kg, 65 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 94 kg, 110 kg, and over 110 kg; for women: 48 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 63 kg, 69 kg, 77 kg, 86 kg, and over 86 kg.
The organization of the tournament is carried out by the Directorate for Olympic Sports under the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with the country's Weightlifting Federation. Additionally, the event is planned to be included in the annual calendar of the Asian Weightlifting Federation.
