Starting December 26, a New Year agricultural fair will begin operating in Bishkek. This was announced by Ulan Chekirbaev, head of the food security department of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, during a broadcast on Birinchi Radio.

The trading rows will be located in the Old Square and will be open daily, starting from Friday until New Year's Day.

The main goal of the fair is to provide city residents with the opportunity to purchase products at more affordable prices. In the context of rising food prices, such events are becoming relevant for both consumers and producers.

Chekirbaev noted that fairs help to curb prices, support socially vulnerable groups of the population, and strengthen the positions of local producers in the market. Visitors will be able to find a wide range of local products, including meat, which will undergo mandatory veterinary inspection.

“We strive to prevent the sale of low-quality meat. The products of our farmers are known for their high quality,” he emphasized.

According to Chekirbaev, more than 60% of the population of Kyrgyzstan lives in rural areas, where meat is a staple product. The fair provides farmers with the opportunity to sell their products at favorable prices.

“I urge the residents of Bishkek to choose domestic products — this will support our farmers,” he added.

In addition, he compared meat prices in Kyrgyzstan with prices in neighboring countries, noting that the higher costs in these countries are compensated by higher salaries and pensions. Chekirbaev also reported that the government of the Kyrgyz Republic is actively working to increase citizens' incomes, and next year an increase in salaries for teachers and pensions is expected.
