The speaker addressed the People's Kurultai before delegates from the regions, pointing out that the VIII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh has just begun its work. The first decision of the parliament was the approved republican budget.
“I can criticize previous convocations of parliament, but I do not intend to discredit them. In some cases, political games and the personal interests of deputies hindered the development of the state. Unfortunately, the parliament has become not a platform for legislative work, but a place for political games,” he noted.
Turgunbek uulu also mentioned that last year he met with one of the former speakers, who acknowledged that his convocation was not as effective as the seventh.
“He said: when the president submitted bills, the deputies criticized them, looking for the edge of the egg. People praised their speeches, claiming that now they were not watching movies, but the speeches of deputies. This fueled their interest, and the deputies continued their games, which ultimately hindered the development of the country. We could have worked without confrontation with the president and not wasted time,” he conveyed the words of his interlocutor, without specifying the name.
The speaker emphasized that the current composition of parliament will fulfill its mission by adopting laws and important decisions necessary for the people, strictly adhering to the legislation.
“I do not agree with the opinion that the current parliament is powerless. This is a legislative body that has the function of controlling the enforcement of laws, and there should be no doubt about that,” he added.
In conclusion, the speaker noted that the Jogorku Kenesh will work on ensuring the sustainable development of the country. He assured that achieving high goals requires political stability, and all three branches of government must act objectively and in harmony.
Earlier, there were opinions in society that the VII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh is the weakest, and its deputies act under the instructions of the presidential administration.
