In a recent episode of the podcast "Kabar," the Mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev, spoke for the first time about the wave of criticism and negative comments that have flooded social media, and how this affects his family.
He noted that many commentators write unfounded and superficial things, hiding behind the anonymity of their private accounts and posing as experts.
“Sometimes I wonder if these people have their own loved ones, children, or relatives. It’s one thing if their words hurt me, but sometimes I come home and see that my eldest daughter is sitting in the corner without a mood. I immediately understand that she has come across yet another comment about me, and it hurts her. People write all sorts of nasty things while hiding behind 'private' profiles. But life is a boomerang, and all of this will come back to them,” the mayor said.
Junushaliev emphasized that he is open to constructive criticism. “If someone points out real problems, I take it the right way. But when they start to slander without grounds and get personal, that’s wrong,” he added.
He clarified that he himself tries not to pay attention to negativity, as he understands the real situation, but it is harder for his loved ones to cope.
“I understand everything and don’t react. But it’s difficult for the family. It hurts me to see my daughters' moods deteriorate because of this. It’s especially hard when my wife reads another wave of hate and gets upset in another room. It’s not easy for our loved ones,” the mayor admitted.
In conclusion, Aybek Junushaliev noted that any difficulties and pressure from information can only be overcome through hard work and real actions.
