The State Committee for National Security reported on extortion of money for assistance in government procurement
An employee of the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek City Transport," working under the Bishkek mayor's office, was detained by the State Committee for National Security for receiving a bribe of 1 million soms.
The incident occurred on January 19, 2026, when the detention took place in the act. The investigation established that some employees of the state procurement department systematically demanded 10% of the tender amount. In return, they promised not to create obstacles and to expedite the payment process for completed work.
As a result of operational investigative activities, an employee with the initials "A.K.Sh." was detained, who is now in the isolation facility of the State Committee for National Security.
Investigative actions are ongoing, and law enforcement agencies are assessing the actions of municipal officials, as well as determining the possible involvement of other individuals in this corruption scheme.
