As part of the proposed changes, it is planned to add a new title "People's Teacher of the Kyrgyz Republic" to the list of state awards.
According to the initiator, the title "People's Teacher" existed in the law of 2001, but it was excluded in the updated version of 2017.
"From 2001 to 2017, this honorary title was awarded to 25 educators, but currently, only seven remain honored," the justification for the draft law states.
Ashymbaeva emphasized that the recognition and support of teachers contribute to enhancing the status and prestige of their profession.
