This initiative was the result of a charitable project implemented by Patrick Meyerle from Ravensburg (Germany) and Peter Bree from West Chester (USA) as part of the mountain bike race Silk Road Mountain Race, which took place in Kyrgyzstan from August 15 to 30, 2025. This race is considered one of the most challenging in the world.

The athletes dedicated their participation in the race to helping children with cancer in Kyrgyzstan. As a result, they managed to raise 15,809 euros. The project was organized in collaboration with the charitable organization Umai - Hilfe für Kirgistan e.V. (Stuttgart, Germany) and the public fund "Helping is Easy".
This is already the second initiative involving Patrick Meyerle as part of the Silk Road bike race. In 2025, during a similar initiative, about 1 million soms were raised, which also went entirely towards medications for children in Kyrgyzstan.
Before the start of the race, Patrick Meyerle and Peter Bree visited the pediatric oncology department in Osh, where they had the opportunity to meet with children and their parents.
