Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev reported that this building was used for storing and producing theatrical decorations, but for many years it had been left without proper care.
“In recent years, the building has been in an emergency state. The authorities decided to change its intended use. The opera and ballet theater has been provided with a new plot of land of 25 hundredths, and funding from Mega has already been secured. Soon a new utility building will be constructed for the theater,” the deputy minister added.
Atambaev noted that in the director's order dated January 30, 2026, there is a mention of transferring the land plot with the two-story building and theatrical workshops to the operational management of the Ministry of Finance by the order of the Minister of Culture. The document also states that all necessary procedures must be completed by February 13.
“This is not just a utility building. It stores decorations, costumes, and much more. This is a two-story structure. Dear colleagues, it would be wrong to make such a hasty decision,” the deputy emphasized.
He suggested that his colleagues visit the site in person. According to him, the theater staff is opposed to such a relocation.
