New statutes and rules have been adopted for the National Academy of Sciences
The Cabinet has issued a decree that defines the operational procedures of the National Academy of Sciences under the President.
The document outlines the Academy's statutes, as well as the regulations for the coordination council that deals with fundamental and applied research in the fields of science and innovation, and the procedures for electing members of the Academy.
This decree emphasizes the importance of scientific expertise and obliges the Academy to prepare two main reports: an annual national science report for the President and a report on scientific achievements for the Cabinet of Ministers.
Additionally, it establishes requirements for the qualifications of Academy members, age limits, mechanisms for academic accountability, as well as norms of the code of ethics for employees and measures to prevent conflicts of interest in the scientific and administrative spheres.
