The statements concern the private drug rehabilitation institution "Path to Life."
Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Suyunbek Omurzakov, reported that according to his information, a tragedy occurred at the rehabilitation center "Path to Life," which has already been mentioned in the materials of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) — one of the patients died as a result of abuse.
At a parliamentary meeting, he noted that the facts of mistreatment in this institution are already known to the public and proposed to conduct a thorough investigation.
According to Omurzakov, lists of all individuals who have ever undergone treatment at this center should be compiled, and their relatives should be interviewed. If the facts of abuse are confirmed, the results should be made public.
Furthermore, the deputy urged regulatory authorities to pay attention to the activities of other similar institutions to prevent the recurrence of such cases.
It is worth recalling that earlier the GKNB reported the discovery of the rehabilitation center "Path to Life" in Bishkek, where cases of abuse of patients occurred, and relatives paid up to 80,000 soms monthly for "treatment." A criminal case has been initiated regarding this matter, and the center's operations have been halted.
