Monitoring at the Jetty-Oguz Republican Medical Rehabilitation Center, located in the Issyk-Kul region, was conducted by employees of the Ombudsman's Institute. The purpose of the visit was to study the observance of the rights of people suffering from HIV and tuberculosis, as reported by the institute's press service.
During the inspection, serious violations of patient rights were recorded. For example, the warehouse building does not meet fire safety requirements, and there is increased humidity in the premises, which has led to the formation of mold on the ceilings and walls, making food products unfit for consumption due to accelerated spoilage, as indicated in the report.
Also, during the inspection, institute employees found more than two kilograms of sausages in the refrigerator that had expired. Poison for rodent control was found on the shelves next to the food products.
“The presence of toxic substances near food products poses a health threat and does not comply with sanitary standards,” emphasized the representatives of the institute.
According to the agency, Ombudsman Jamila Jamambaeva sent letters to the Ministry of Health and the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance requesting measures to be taken against those responsible for the identified violations.
According to the Ministry of Health, the deputy director of the Jetty-Oguz Rehabilitation Center was held administratively liable and fined 5,000 soms, while the warehouse worker received a warning.
The agency also noted that all violations identified during the inspection have been rectified.
The Ministry plans to build a new warehouse facility to replace the old one, which was recognized as emergency back in 2022. The issue of financing this project is currently being resolved.
