In order to assess the observance of patients' rights undergoing treatment for HIV and tuberculosis, staff from the Ombudsman Institute conducted monitoring at the Jetiy-Oguz Republican Medical Rehabilitation Center located in the Issyk-Kul region.
As a result of the inspection, serious violations of sanitary norms were identified. The storage facilities were found to be unsuitable, the old warehouse building did not meet fire safety standards, and the walls and ceilings were covered with mold, creating unfavorable conditions for storing products, which contributed to their rapid spoilage.
More than 2 kilograms of sausages with expired shelf life were also found in the refrigerator.
Poisons for rodent control were located on the shelves next to the food products, which poses a serious health threat and contradicts sanitary and epidemiological safety requirements.
According to Article 57 of the Law "On Public Health," all processes related to the production, storage, transportation, and sale of food products must be carried out in compliance with norms that do not harm human health.
As a result of the inspection, Jamilya Jamambaeva sent letters to the Ministry of Health and the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision recommending that measures be taken against those responsible.
The Ministry of Health reported that the deputy director of the medical rehabilitation center was fined 5,000 soms, and a warning was issued to the warehouse employee. All identified violations have already been rectified.
Additionally, the agency noted that plans are in place to construct a new warehouse to replace the emergency one, which was recognized as such back in 2022. The funding issue is currently being resolved.
