
During the discussion, the focus was on the preparatory activities related to the upcoming elections, as well as on issues of monitoring the electoral process and accrediting independent observers.
Jamila Dzhamanbaeva noted that the Ombudsman institution is ready to oversee the observance of citizens' electoral rights. She emphasized that on election day, headquarters will be organized in regional centers and at the central office of the Ombudsman to process citizens' appeals and complaints.
“As part of our mandate, we will monitor the rights of voters and provide legal consultations if necessary. All regional offices of the Ombudsman will be involved to cover as many polling stations as possible,” she added.
Claude Haagen reported that 94 short-term observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will arrive in Kyrgyzstan. Approximately 300 short-term and 30 long-term observers from the OSCE ODIHR and about 20 representatives from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe are also expected to arrive.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation and information exchange on the day of voting.
