According to information provided by the OSCE PA, Claude Haagen has been appointed as the special coordinator and head of the short-term observer mission at the request of the President of the OSCE PA, Pierre-Yves Monette, and by the decision of the current OSCE Chairperson. He is a member of the Luxembourg Parliament.

During his two-day stay in Bishkek, Claude Haagen plans to hold meetings with representatives of government agencies, the electoral commission, political parties and candidates, as well as with representatives of civil society and the media. In addition, he will meet with election observation partners from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), who are already working on the ground.

The main purpose of the visit is to assess the pre-election situation and the level of readiness for the elections.

Claude Haagen has significant experience in international parliamentary diplomacy and has actively participated in various OSCE PA initiatives aimed at supporting democratic governance and monitoring elections.

OSCE PA representatives also noted that the assembly has been regularly observing elections in Kyrgyzstan since 2000, covering 11 electoral processes. This underscores the organization's commitment to supporting democratic institutions and processes in the OSCE region.
