Georgia has decided to impose a fine of 5,000 lari (about €1,600) on the Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs, according to Politico.

Minister Elina Valtonen, who will become the chair of the OSCE in 2025, recorded a video message in support of pro-European actions at the Georgian Parliament.

In response to her actions, the authorities canceled a meeting with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Valtonen noted that the Finnish side canceled the meeting due to scheduling conflicts and invited the Prime Minister to Helsinki "to observe any demonstration of his choice."

Protests in Georgia have been ongoing for over 300 days following the suspension of the country's EU accession process. The opposition characterized the authorities' actions as a "signal to the world" regarding pressure on diplomats and citizens.
