She clarified: "We cannot assert that the cause of the poisoning is the shawarma; this is just a hypothesis." As part of the investigation, samples of food, daily samples, as well as swabs from equipment and utensils were collected. An examination of the workers who prepared the food was also conducted.
According to Kurmanova, the samples are currently being analyzed, and the exact causes of the poisoning will only be known after all laboratory tests are completed. "Typically, results become available within seven to eight days, but to confirm them, additional tests need to be conducted in another laboratory, which may take 10-14 days," she added.
The expert also emphasized that shawarma is not allowed in the school meal menu. According to her, private institutions create their own menus, and inspections of such establishments are conducted only once a year. Baktygul Jumagulova, a specialist in school medicine, noted that including shawarma in the school menu is a serious violation of sanitary norms and poses a danger to children's health.
It was previously reported that a mass poisoning occurred in one of the schools in Bishkek, resulting in 84 people being affected, including children and teachers. The school has been issued directives to eliminate the identified violations and conduct a complete disinfection.
Administrative protocols have been drawn up against the school principal for violations, which carry fines of 5,000 and 23,000 soms. The Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance continues its investigation.
