The Director of the State Agency for Public Service and Local Self-Government, Kudaybergen Bazarbaev, noted on the air of "Birinchi Radio" that the process of renaming Jalal-Abad to Manas was carried out in accordance with the law.

He explained that in such cases, it is necessary to take into account the opinion of local residents.

Bazarbaev reported that seven meetings were held with residents in Jalal-Abad, where everyone supported the idea of renaming. After that, the city administration submitted the issue for the mayor's consideration, then it was escalated to the regional level and reviewed by an interdepartmental commission, which, in turn, presented it to the government and then to the Jogorku Kenesh. "All norms were followed. As for the referendum, this is merely the desire of some people, and such a necessity is not indicated in any recommendations or legislative articles," he added.

Furthermore, the official noted that the spirit of Manas has the ability to unite people, giving them energy and optimism. "I am confident that renaming Jalal-Abad to Manas will bring only positive results," Bazarbaev concluded.

It is important to note that on September 3, the mayor of Jalal-Abad, Ernisbek Ormokov, expressed the initiative to rename the city. A week later, the Jogorku Kenesh approved the bill in three readings, and on September 17, it was signed by President Sadyr Japarov. As a result, on September 27, Jalal-Abad officially became Manas.

The head of the GKNB, Kamchybek Tashiev, did not rule out the possibility that in the future, Manas could become the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
