According to him, the previous general plan provided for the presence of 5-6 types of public transport; however, in the updated version, only 2-3 will remain, but with a clear justification for implementation in specific areas and in certain years.
“Light rail trams will become the main type of public transport. The general plan has been developed by the St. Petersburg Research Institute, known for its advanced tram systems. They not only produce such vehicles but also provide the necessary infrastructure for their operation,” noted Azimov.
In the first phase of the new general plan, the construction of tram lines with a length of 28 kilometers is planned. Two routes are expected to be created from the new stadium to the city center, which will follow circular routes through the streets of Jibek Jolu, Shabdan Baatyr, Fuchik, and Akhunbaev, extending into residential areas. The start dates for construction have not yet been determined, as this is under the jurisdiction of the city hall, and the general plan still needs to be approved,” he added.
