At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev proposed a number of initiatives aimed at protecting the interests of children who face issues related to non-payment of alimony.

He emphasized that after a divorce, many women are left without financial support, as men fail to fulfill their alimony obligations.

“There is a tradition among the Kyrgyz people known as 'ene sutu' (mother's milk), where the groom pays money to the bride's mother. Let's legalize this practice. Let the funds be placed in a deposit account, and in the event of a divorce, this money will remain protected. We can also introduce the institution of family guarantors who can assist financially during a divorce,” the parliamentarian suggested.

In addition, members of the parliamentary committee dealing with judicial and legal issues reviewed a draft law from the General Prosecutor's Office concerning amendments to certain legislative acts regulating enforcement proceedings. This document proposes the introduction of private bailiffs and increased responsibility for those who do not pay alimony.
