In the summer of 2025, gazelles were released into the wild steppes of the Ton district, and according to the latest data, their condition remains stable. This was reported by 24.kg, head of the vertebrate zoology laboratory at the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Askar Davletbakov.

A total of 30 individuals were released into the wild, six of which are equipped with sensors to track their movements.

“We conduct regular monitoring. According to our observations, the gazelles have formed four small groups. We check their condition and can report that all individuals are alive and healthy, with no losses recorded. An environmental police unit operates around the clock in this area. We also hold informational meetings with local residents, emphasizing the need to protect these animals,” noted Askar Davletbakov.

He also added that there are 40 individuals remaining in the enclosure, which will be used for breeding. About 15 of these individuals are being prepared for release into the wild in the spring, depending on the success of breeding.

It was previously reported that a zoological reserve "Gazelle Ordo" is planned to be created on Issyk-Kul, covering an area of about 18,000 hectares.

A petition for the establishment of the reserve with scientific justification has already been submitted by Askar Davletbakov to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, and the department has confirmed to 24.kg that the issue is currently under consideration.
