The political scientist is forced to wait at the airport
According to Ulysmedia.kz, Russian political scientist and head of the Asia Development Fund Alexander Sobianin cannot enter Kyrgyzstan.
He has been at the Bishkek airport for a week now. The reason for the denial of entry is new migration rules that have become stricter for Russian citizens.
“Starting from 2025, the conditions for Russians in Kyrgyzstan have changed significantly. After completing registration, leaving the country, re-entry is prohibited for the next 90 days,” Sobianin explained.
“I returned from a business trip in Kazan five days ago. But I was not sent back on the same flight, and I was also not deported on the next flight. It seems I will have to spend another five days in the airport chairs. At my age, this is quite difficult. This is my native republic, my family and home are here, but I have no opportunity to either enter or fly away,” he added.
