"We Must Preserve Issyk-Kul." Torobaev Announced Changes for Farmers

At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 11, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev announced the need for a complete transition of the entire Issyk-Kul region to drip irrigation.

The minister emphasized: "Preserving Lake Issyk-Kul is our priority. If farmers continue to take all the water from the BSR and BDR, the lake will not be replenished. Therefore, our plan is to fully transition the region to drip irrigation."

Additionally, he reported that a decision to provide loans at 2% for the purchase of equipment for drip irrigation will be approved in the coming month.
