According to the chief physician of the City Emergency Medical Center, Iskender Shayahmetov, there has been a significant reduction in the shortage of emergency medical doctors in Bishkek—almost by three times. This change has been made possible due to a recent salary increase.

Shayahmetov noted that by a presidential decree, which came into effect in 2025, a new salary was approved for emergency medical workers in Bishkek and Osh, as well as for surgeons, pediatricians, and specialists working in remote areas.

“Previously, out of 210 vacancies in our service, 98 remained unfilled, but after the salary increase of 20,000 soms, the number of vacant positions decreased to 32. Thus, the shortage of doctors has significantly reduced,” he added.

It is worth reminding that on December 25 of last year, at the People's Kurultai, the president announced a salary increase for teachers and medical workers, starting from April 1.

There were also reports about plans to increase the staff of the Emergency Medical Center.
