In 2025, the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund reimbursed pharmacies 409.7 million soms for medications issued on subsidized prescriptions, enabling thousands of insured citizens of Kyrgyzstan to receive necessary medical assistance, paying only a portion of the cost of the medications.
According to the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund, the prescription of subsidized medications is carried out by family doctors solely based on medical indications. Prescriptions are issued electronically and are based on a special directory that includes over 800 names of medications.
The subsidized medication program is available only to insured citizens who are registered with doctors. Medications can be obtained at pharmacies that cooperate with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund.
The cost of medications is partially covered by the patient, while the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund reimburses up to 50% of the total price as a discount. This mechanism aims to reduce the financial burden on families and allows patients to undergo treatment without interruptions.
The Fund also strongly recommends that citizens check their insurance status in a timely manner and consult with family doctors for consultations and prescriptions for subsidized medications. Questions can be directed to the 24-hour hotline of the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund, the number of which is 113. Calls are free.
