Dastan Jumabekov: The Silence Law is correct, but exceptions are needed

A deputy proposed to exempt two holidays a year from restrictions

Dastan Jumabekov, a member of parliament, expressed the opinion that the Silence Law has its merits, but during holiday celebrations, the time should be extended for citizens who are celebrating events. He made this statement during the discussion of the government bill "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic (in the Code of Offenses, the laws 'On the Basics of Crime Prevention', 'On Silence')."

He emphasized that the draft law already provides for an exception for New Year's Eve, when noisy events are allowed from 10 PM on December 31 to 3 AM on January 1. In addition to this, Jumabekov suggested including Independence Day in the list of exceptions.

"I believe that the Silence Law is correct. However, it is necessary to extend the time for celebrating August 31, when Independence Day is observed. This day is of great significance for our people and our country. Celebrations take place in the square, and people enjoy themselves. I ask the Ministry of Internal Affairs to consider my proposals in the second reading," he noted.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Oktay Urmambetov, supported his initiative.
