At the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, a team of doctors used an endoscopic method for the first time to remove a large polyp from a child, employing the Endo-Loop system. This was reported in a press release from the medical institution.

During an endoscopic examination, an epithelial formation in the sigmoid colon on a stalk was discovered in a five-year-old patient. This condition manifested as rare episodes of blood during defecation and constipation.

The operation was performed using minimally invasive endoscopic techniques. In the first stage, an endoscopic Endo-Loop ligation loop was applied to the stalk of the polyp, which allowed for the safe cessation of blood supply to the polyp and significantly reduced the risk of bleeding during the operation. The polyp was then removed using an electrosurgical loop.

The size of the polyp was 55 × 45 mm with a stalk length of 9 cm. The formation was successfully removed entirely without any complications. A follow-up examination after the operation did not reveal any signs of bleeding. The removed material was sent for histological examination.

The postoperative period went smoothly, and the patient's condition remained stable. The child was discharged in satisfactory condition for further outpatient monitoring.

Medical specialists emphasize that modern endoscopic technologies make it possible to perform such operations with minimal intervention, without incisions and prolonged recovery, which is especially important in pediatric healthcare.
