In Tajikistan, 405 people were released from liability for their activity on social media, including "likes" on materials related to extremism and terrorism. This was reported by the Asia Plus agency.

The country's Attorney General, Habibullo Vohidzoda, stated that in recent years there has been a decrease in the number of crimes related to terrorism and extremism. According to him, in 2025, the number of such offenses decreased by more than 23 percent (about 314 cases) compared to 2024.

Vohidzoda also emphasized that the reduction in the number of cases was made possible by President Emomali Rahmon's directive not to initiate criminal cases for actions related to "likes" and comments on social media. Additionally, active explanatory work was carried out among the population.

The decision to abolish criminal liability for "likes" and reposts, supported by the Parliament of Tajikistan, was signed by the president in May 2025. The president noted that some government agencies had previously initiated unfounded criminal cases against citizens, and this practice needed to be stopped.
