According to Kolesov, the stable cold weather of recent days has contributed to the freezing of the entire surface of the gulf: “In the throat of the gulf, young ice persisted for 2-3 days, which turned out to be thin and transparent enough to make it difficult to detect on satellite images. Nevertheless, it is present,” he added.
The last time the Gulf of Finland froze was in 2010 and 2011.

Kolesov also previously shared a satellite image showing that ice covered the entire surface of Lake Ladoga.
Additionally, a snowfall was recorded in Moscow that broke the record set in 1970.
