
Since 2021, 567 million dollars have been invested in the water sector
At the recent meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Subsoil Use, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, information was presented on the state of drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities in the settlements of Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Zhanibek Kerimaliev emphasized that since 2021, special attention has been paid to the water sector.
The total volume of attracted investments amounted to 567 million dollars, of which 55 million were allocated from the republican budget.
"These funds have allowed for the improvement of water supply systems in 25 cities and 601 villages from 2021 to 2025," he noted.
Committee members during the discussion emphasized the importance of accelerating the provision of the population with quality drinking water on a permanent basis.
Deputy Alisher Kozyuev expressed the need to expedite the commissioning of treatment facilities in Kara-Suu, adding that their launch is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Deputy Nilufer Alimjanova also highlighted the importance of creating laboratories in the regions for water quality analysis.
Committee Chairman Bakyt Tentishev noted that water quality must meet sanitary standards and emphasized the need for the installation of systems for water purification and disinfection.
