Suyunbek Omurzakov, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh and former deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, criticized the quality of the report presented by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the draft law on roadside testing of drivers.

At a meeting with Deputy Minister Adylbek Biibosunov and Head of the State Traffic Safety Department Azhenbek Kozukeiev, he noted that their explanations were not clear enough. In his opinion, this creates a distorted picture for the deputies about the essence of the draft law, which, nevertheless, has its value.

“Your task is to clearly convey to the public why this law is being adopted. It is not aimed at punishing drivers, but at preventing violations. For example, it is important to explain that installing gas equipment without proper knowledge can lead to serious consequences, such as an explosion. You need to answer the deputies' questions in more detail; otherwise, misunderstandings arise, such as when someone says they do not support the draft law – that is your responsibility,” said Omurzakov.

Despite the criticism, the deputies ultimately approved the concept of the draft law.

Today, the committee meeting reviewed amendments to the Code of Offenses, according to which an inspector will be able to conduct roadside testing of drivers for traffic violations. If a driver is unable to answer questions, their license will be revoked. The driver will also be issued a temporary license for a period of 60 days, during which they are required to pass an exam at "Unaa," and upon successful completion, their license will be returned.
