At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 25, the Chairman of the State Border Service Abdykarim Alimbaev reported on the preparation of amendments to the resolution on visa requirements for citizens of Kazakhstan. This was done in response to a request from Deputy Dastan Bekeshev regarding issues related to the passage of Kazakhstani citizens who permanently reside in Kyrgyzstan.

Alimbaev noted that, like Kyrgyz citizens, Kazakhstani citizens are required to register while in Kyrgyzstan. However, according to him, there is a category of citizens who have not registered for many years. In connection with the introduction of new rules, many appeals have been received, including from deputies, concerning Kyrgyz citizens who have obtained Kazakhstani citizenship and are facing difficulties when entering their historical homeland.

He stated that the Cabinet has already responded to these appeals by creating a working group at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Citizens who were born and lived in Kyrgyzstan but later obtained Kazakhstani citizenship will be able to cross the border without obstacles. A separate provision regarding visa requirements will be developed for them.

Additionally, Alimbaev noted that Kyrgyz citizens with children who hold Kazakhstani citizenship can enter the country without any issues.

It is worth reminding that in October 2025, a provision was introduced allowing citizens of Kazakhstan to stay in Kyrgyzstan for 90 days out of 180. Since December 2025, Kazakhstani citizens exceeding this period have been denied entry.
